Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela was born in Qunu , Trankei. He went to boarding school and there they changed his name from Rolihlahla to Nelson. He organized a strike against The White Colonial rule and he was expelled. He ran away from home to avoid an arranged marrage and then he started to become a lawyer to protect blacks. He arranged military training in Algeria and upon his return he was charged for switching countries without a passport crossing  the government and attempting to overthrow the government. He spent 28 years in prison. He got out early because he had secret meetings with the president of south Africa, P.W. Botha, and his successor, F.W. de Klerk. He would not eat in prison because he thought he was sentenced unfairly for doing nothing. He would also communicate with his fellow prisoners with dirty dishes, tape on toilet seats, and hiding messages in the bottom of food buckets. He later became president of the African National Congress.
